Facilities and Operations

The facilities department is responsible for the development and oversight of the Five-Year Master Plan for Facilities. A requirement of MSDE, the funding to achieve the goals in the plan are obtained through collaboration with Maryland's Interageny Commission on School Construction, chaired by Nancy S. Grasmick, Ph.D., State Superintendent of Schools.
The facilities department is responsible for routine maintenance and improvements on existing properties operated by the Allegany County Board of Education. The responsibilities of our maintenance department extends to 22 school sites, the transporation offices, the warehouse, and central office.
The operations department is responsible for providing services, materials, and supplies necessary for the daily operations in all facilities maintained by the school system. This department operates the delivery services, manages the custodial staff and services, and ensures that the proper supplies and materials exist to provide safe and orderly school environments. This department also works cooperatively with the schools to ensure that Maryland's Pesticide Management procedures are carried out in an appropriate manner.
This department coordinates the purchase of new and replacement furniture and maintenance equipment. In addition, the operations department provides the routine maintenance of the outside grounds by providing grass cutting and snow removal services.
