Evening High School

Allegany County Public Schools offers an evening high school program as an option for students desiring to achieve a high school education. Evening High School classes began in September 2009 and will continue through May 2010.

To be awarded course credit, students must meet the requirements determined by the Maryland State Department of Education and obtain a passing grade. Students enrolled in Evening High School can be referred through the following sources: Pupil Personnel Worker, Principals, Hearing Officers or IEP Teams. All classes are held at the Center for Career and Technical Education four evenings a week.

The following courses are offered at Evening High School: English (11th & 12th grade), Sciences (Environmental Science, Biology), Social Studies (World Cultures & US History), and Math (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Integrated Math). In addition, individually paced courses may be offered in Health, Family Life, Communication Technology I & II, Introduction to Computers and Criminal Justice based on student need and special circumstances.

The cost is $50.00 for one class and $100.00 for two or more classes. Students will also be required to pay a $25.00 book deposit per class that will be refunded at the end of the school year when the books are returned.
