Overview
The Elementary Social Studies Curriculum is aligned with the Maryland Voluntary State Curriculum for Social Studies and has been developed to ensure that students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitude which enable them to be caring human beings and productive members of society. The curriculum provides instructional activities developing each student's understanding of political science, peoples and nations of the world, geography, economics, history, and social studies skills and processes. Maryland Facts Quiz Bowl
The Maryland Facts Quiz Bowl is a culminating activity for the fourth grade study of Maryland. It creates an enthusiasm for learning facts about Maryland and allow students to showcase their knowledge. The quiz bowl has a computerized gameboard format in which a seven member team from each elementary school responds to questions about the economics, people, symbols, geography, history, and government of Maryland. Students receive prizes, certificates, and awards for their participation.
